Thorney Lakes Golf Club - Member's information (see the links lower down the page for the latest news)

Welcome to our web pages.  These are being produced by the committee in agreement with the Club's managers who "own" the site.

At the AGM several members have suggested that we keep them up to date with developments and issues.  These web pages are one of the means that the committee hopes will achieve this.  We also intend to continue to publish a periodic hardcopy newsletter and always be readily available to listen to your comments and feedback on what golfing issues concern you.

The Thorney Lakes Golf Club was 10 years old on Saturday 4th June 2005.  Compared to several other clubs in the area and further afield we are still almost babes in arms.  Nevertheless the essential feature that seems to draw people into membership is the friendly reception that you receive either on or off course from other members.  Long may this spirit of friendliness continue.

The Lakes course is managed as a proprietry one.  A Club committee headed by the Club Captain represents members' interests to the management and arranges a varied program of events for members' participation and enjoyment.  These include competitions and social events for members.  These can vary from a fun 9 hole Texas Scramble competition through to the Club Championship over 36 holes of medal play where every stroke counts.

In addition there are the singles and pairs knock-out competitions run on a match-play basis.

Also the club participates in the South Lincolnshire Golf League where competitive home and away matches are played against teams representing the likes of Spalding, Sutton Bridge and Tydd St Giles.

For those of you playing off a division 2 or 3 handicap who would like to participate in representative matches (off 3/4 handicap) a number of friendly games are arranged.  Courses to be visited in 2005 include Toft, Old Nene and RAF Marham.

There are in addition separate and freestanding Seniors' and Ladies' Sections within the Club.  They both are flourishing and well supported sections.  Each of them run a variety of competitions and play a number of friendly matches on a home and away basis against other locally based clubs such as Greetham Valley, Middleton Hall, Ramsey and Rutland County.

Members and green fee playing guests may wish to note that Tuesdays are normally Ladies Day and Thursdays are principally Seniors Day.
